Hey Guys! We have had some folks ask lately why some states have different awards than others or why there are different programs etc. Im writing this in a way to directly address KY Members to help you guys understand where we are at and how this all works as we have a lot of new members who may not know. The show dollars that are collected at approved IBRA shows are our main source of revenue for the state. If you go to an IBRA approved show and there are 100 entries in the IBRA class $100 goes to the awards program. Each state is different and KY doesnt have the number of covered arenas that some do so we are fairly limited to the number of winter shows we have instate and in summer if there are rain outs. That is why Carmon Poor and I have been having the shows in LaGrange the last two years to help folks have a place to show in state and also to raise money for the KY IBRA awards. As of right now those funds are a little over $6K The fundraiser show that we host at BGSC is the next way. We raised over $2500 at this show. That brings us to about $9000 in funds. We awards saddles to every division winner. That alone eats more than what is in the awrds fund right now. Carmon Poor donates back her commission every year and the state show hopefully brings in some more. This year Bryan Isham and I have agreed to donate back to cover what the State Show had been averaging over the last several years outside of last year which was a break even show. What all this means is we need members to step up with sponsorships. I have secured the large vetrinarian sponsor for the last several years and that has always pulled us through and allowed us to award some awesome prizes. This year Bannon Woods has stepped down and I am looking for a new jacket sponsor. We all have farriers, tack dealers, feed mills etc that we use and support. We would love to advertise for them. If 13 people get a $100 sponsor that goes a long way to help cover buckles or halters etc. It doesnt take much but it takes a village. I am posting below our sponsorship info. We would love to have your support in helping build you a better state and awards program.
